Powered by 740 HP, the boat is designed with a lightweight carbon fiber hull and a 24-degree deadrise deep-V oceangoing design.

Voltari, a global leader in marine electric vehicle manufacturing, has launched the Patrol 26 RIB, a new electric patrol boat designed for government, military, and security applications. The Patrol 26 RIB is built for speed and accuracy. It performs well without making noise or producing emissions.

With a trimmable outdrive, contra-rotating propellers, and a robust dual-prop military-grade drive, this vessel outperforms any internal combustion engine (ICE) boat of similar size and power, reinforcing its position as the leading choice in the EV patrol boat category.

For US Navy

Talking to IE, Cam Heaps, founder and CEO of Voltari, said that the company has received an order for two Patrol 26 boats from a prominent naval defense contractor.

The contractor is demoing the boats for a US Navy security contract in San Diego. “We are currently in discussions with other government agencies in the United States,” Heaps added.

In addition, ISED Canada is delivering a Patrol 26 boat to the Canadian Coast Guard for testing in December, he added. “Trials have taken place over the last 12 months; we are now in production and taking orders.” According to Heaps, the Patrol 26 RIB competes “toe to toe” performance-wise with its ICE counterparts of similar size and power—often outperforming them in key areas like hole shot and acceleration.

This boat is designed for saltwater and rough water conditions and built to military-grade specifications.

It is unique as the world’s first 100% electric patrol boat, capable of serving as a direct replacement for various nearshore applications, including police, security, coast guard, military, and both institutional and commercial customers.

“EV Marine offers significant cost savings in maintenance—up to $1 million per vessel over a decade based on comparing twin 300 hp applications at 4000 rpm over a 10-year continuous duty. This combination of cutting-edge technology and long-term savings sets it apart from anything else on the market,” Heaps added.

All-electric patrol boat

According to Heaps, the boat has a 100% electric power train, which allows complete control at all idle levels and switches between forward and reverse without clunking or jarring, as with traditional transmissions.

Powered by 740 HP, the Patrol 26 RIB is designed with a lightweight carbon fiber hull and a 24-degree deadrise deep-V oceangoing design. This combination ensures superior maneuverability, allowing the vessel to outpace any hydrofoil application in forward and reverse operations.

The Patrol 26 RIB also has shock suspension seating, ensuring crew comfort during demanding missions. It features a fixed-mount FLIR thermal night vision camera for enhanced situational awareness in low-light conditions. A secure dry storage area near the helm is designed to accommodate marine flares and lethal and non-lethal weapons.

Operators seeking additional protection from the elements can upgrade to the Patrol 26 Pilot, which features climate control and can comfortably accommodate up to four passengers. When not in use, the front mounting rear jockey seats can be easily folded up, maximizing space for movement and enhancing the overall experience on the water.

Some of the notable Patrol 26 RIB performance features include a top speed of over 55 mph, a cruise speed of 20-30 mph, a range of up to 100 miles at idle or 30 miles at 25 MPH cruise speed, and a peak power of 550 kW, continuous power at 425 kW.
